Transparent Beings
Specifically for Transparent Beings, I desired a garment that was intricate in construction that would act as a “second skin”. So much of drag artistry is revealing areas of the body that inform the audience of femininity.
My study with this look, Transparent Beings, is to make a set of garments that reveal the body underneath while maintaining elements of methodical construction.
Transparent Beings is constructed out of 100% Japanese Mohair. Panels were knit on a Sentro Knitting Machine and were assembled by hand on the form. By using this method, I was able to assemble each panel in a strategic way that hugged the curvy nature of the feminine form, while maintaining a stretch element that allows for size adjustability.
Transparent Beings is all about bringing attention to the craft and skill that goes into fiber artistry and finding modern avenues in which this methodology can expand.
The skirt has been size tested and can comfortably fit sizes 2 to 10.
